Its only the beginning of November but I have to insist on mentioning Christmas. I have a strong desire to have traditions for my kids but I have a hard time coming up with ideas that I will actually follow through with. I usually start thinking about this around December 15 (10 days away from the big day) and I find myself to overwhelmed with the fact that I am running out of time for ideas. So this year I am starting to think early. But I need some help! I need some ideas! Some of the very few traditions we have are
*Go see the professionally done gingerbread houses at the Convention Center
*Have a baking day with my mom -in- law
*Go to the Lights of Christmas at Warm Beach (this has already been nixed this year by Todd because he says its the same every year and its always cold ...blah blah blah)
So that's it folks. Pretty pathetic. So for the sake of the children...pleeeaase share some ideas.
If you are reading this...if ANYONE is reading this please take the time to comment. Am I just talking to cyberspace or anyone even listening????? I don't even think my own family is listening. How sad is that?

I am listening! I will put my mind to it and get back to you.
We make Lefsa on Christmas Eve while watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase. :) Then we have a big dinner, go to Christmas Eve service, and then come home and open gifts under the tree. Shocking gifts get opened up on Christmas morning. As far as the days leading up to Christmas...we go look at Christmas lights some where. I'd like to start a tradition of going to a Christmas concert of some sort but I don't know who are where. OH! Michael W. Smith is doing a Christmas concert at Overlake Christian Church on Dec. 13th (I think that's the date)...that would be really great to go to!
PS...I am reading your blog every day...I just don't always comment. Your blog is great and I love your pictures.
Hugs, Teresa
I'm reading and listening! One thing I've always liked to do since I was little was have one night to sleep in front of the christmas tree. I've carried that over into my family. I look forward to sleeping in front of the tree with the lights on with my husband and kids! =)

Hello, Of course I remember you. Thanks for commenting on my blog. It is really funny because everytime I would read Heidi's comments I would wonder if Andrea was you then one day it dawned on me that I could click on your name and see. It was the same day you commented on my blog. You look great. I don't agree with you about not being photogenic. Your boys are adorable. I like the Halloween costumes. I love blogging. It is so fun to catch up with old friends. Please add me to your blogging buddies. Oh and can you please say Hello to Katie for me. Heidi says that she doesn't have a blog but she left me a comment. It makes me so happy to see old friends happy and enjoying their lives. Also, I loved it Jenny Webb commented on my blog. I have been meaning to email her so I can get invited to hers. Please say hello to her also. Now that brings me to Jason Metcalf. Where is he and what is he up to? All of this brings back a lot of great memories. Stay in touch. Thanks again for commenting. I am thinking about Christmas Traditions. One thing that I always think about right off the bat is we do the twelve days of Christmas to another family. The kids love it and get so excited about sneaking around and leaving goodies etc. Last year we did a piece to a nativity set every night for twelve nights with goodies. It was a lot of fun. I will think of more.
You might consider connecting with the Salvation Army or some other charitable organization and seeing how you as a family can get involved in something for the community or something at the center like helping decorating a tree. I thought I would look into something like that to do with the grandkids. I'll let you know.
I wanna know what's up with Jason Metcalf too! Say hello from me please.
We usually try to go downtown and ride the carousel sometime during the holidays. I love Kathy's idea of doing the 12 days of Christmas for someone. (Hi Kathy!) We had someone do that for our family last year, just with little goodies each night, and my kids were SO excited about it. They've been talking all year about how they want to do that for someone else this year. And of course they have already broken out the favorite Christmas movie at our house...."elf." :) Oh! I just remembered another one that we used to do, but have not been very good about doing the last couple of years. We have little wooden mangers for each child, that we'd set under the tree and for every nice thing we see them do during the holidays we add a piece of straw/hay. The idea is to fill it up so it is nice and soft for the baby Jesus. Then on Christmas eve, they'd get to put their baby Jesus in their little manger. I'll let you know if I think of anything else. :)
